Rozi started Alterations by Rozi 15+ years ago when she bought a small, floundering alterations business in downtown Howell called Rosemary’s Alterations. She then built it up over the years into the thriving, successful shop it is today. Her business spread by word of mouth.

The people of Howell have nicknamed her“Coco Chanel of Howell” because of her sense of style and good taste. Her “prom girls” now come from all over Livingston County because they know “Rozi is the best!” Rozi always knew she would be involved helping people in some way. She got her start in Budapest, where she went to school and worked in clothing manufacturing.

After coming to the US 20 years ago, she began doing bridal alterations. This has allowed her to fulfill her two passions –sewing and helping others to look and feel their best. Rozi lives by the motto: Look seven steps ahead and cut once. She is now looking ahead seven steps to see what exciting thing life will bring to her next.

Ivan Bagirian has been a tailor for over 40 years. He learned his trade in old country at his brother’s shop when he was 15 years old. His resume includes working for places such as Marshall Fields, Jacobson’s, Men’s Wearhouse, Macy’s, Richmond Brothers and Holden-Reid. Ivan specializes in men’s alterations, but can fix just about anything. He has been at Rozi’s for over 5 years now, where he can be found at his machine, entertaining co-workers and customers alike with his stories, jokes, singing and whistling while he works.

Judy started sewing as a child. She got the idea to make the most beautiful doll dress ever. It just so happened that the fabric was hanging in her mother’s closet – as a dress. That did not stop her from cutting off the bottom of her mother’s dress and making her doll a dress. Unfortunately, her mother did not see the beauty in it the way Jutka did! We can all agree that Jutka has been a wonderful addition to Team Rozi. She specializes in formal wear and sews out of her home as well as at Rozi’s. She has been with Rozi for over 2 years now.

Rebecca Ross has been sewing all her life. She began doing alterations over 15 years ago and has spent the last 6+ years at Rozi’s. As a child, she stitched dolls clothes with Larry, the boy next door. She convinced him boys could sew, too, and pronounced him a Tailor. Rebecca was the sole provider of alterations for Michael Men’s’ Wear and Ms Casuals in Fenton for over 10 years. She is the Grandma Moses of Rozi’s and will most likely be sewing until the day she dies. She also hopes one day to write her memoir in the form of a sit-com about life at Alterations at Rozi’s.
